München RFC : RC Unterföhring
27 : 24

It was another hot Saturday afternoon and our men in blue were ready for their second derby in a row versus RC Unterföhring. We knew it was going to be a tough game, however for some reason we weren’t switched on from the first minute. RCU started the game well, secured the ball and played several phases. However Munich RFC could withhold their dominant game for around 30minutes. Then we started to play the way we did versus STUSTA the week before. Niklas Graf threw a lovely ball to the line out, which was immediately popped to our number 9 and Captain Antoine Miguet and then further distributed by Fred Begards. Fred Odur ran around a couple of RCU defenders and scored the first try of the game. Begards converted it. After another 10 minutes of tough defending by our MRFC men, RCU managed to break the line and scored themselves, leaving the score at 7:7 at half time. We were not happy with our performance and knew we had to work harder. We went into the second half with much more energy, however RCU managed to slip through our defence and scored the first try of the half. It was 7:12 for RCU. We had to hit back now and that is exactly what we did. For the rest of the game Munich RFC dominated the game. Sidney Brenner scored out wide in the right Corner, using an overlap that was created after playing several good phases and players running hard lines to draw the defence. Shortly afterwards Adrian Schiller scored his first try for the first team and decided not to do a Zulu afterwards. Thank god for that. It was great team effort to help push Adrian other line. Finally, Sidney Brenner scored another try going straight through the pack. It was 24:12 for Munich RFC. We continued to defend well, however due to a couple missed tackles and small individual errors, most likely due to our players becoming tired we let RCU get back into the game. They scored two tries in the last 3 minutes of the game making it 24:24. We had only about 1 minutes left to play and knew we had to score a try or win a penalty in their half. We didn’t give up, chased the kick off well, tackled hard and won a penalty. Begards easily slotten it over the posts and Munich RFC won 27:24.
All in all, it was an exciting game, very tough to play, but we will learn from our mistakes and come back stronger for our future Matches.
